on music. and other such wonderful things.

Three nights in a row of taking time to be creative and think outside the box. I, personally, LOVE thinking outside the box. Who wants to stay in the lines? I like to let it grow and grow... So, I sketched out ideas and through them on the board behind my styling chair (which, for right then, wasn't a black swivel chair all cushioned and soft, but rather a metal folding chair that was often too low to the ground).

Monday night: Whoville's.
Tuesday night: Jungle Creatures.
Wednesday-Saturday: EVERYONE!!!

By the time Thursday came around I was ready to sit through the open-dress rehearsal and I was hoping the kids were ready for an audience as well.

The lights went down and the announcements came on: No cameras, please. Turn off your cell phones. All.The.Way.Off, please.... as CFA proudly presents Seussical!

The pit band (I prefer to refer to them as an orchestra because they just seemed to good to be considered a pit band - and they weren't in a pit!) began to play and oh boy was it beautiful. BEAUTIFUL! The music is lovely in and of itself, but they played it more than just ok.

Soon the lights came up on the stage, we were entertained by The Cat In The Hat, JoJo, Gertrude McFuzz, Horton, Mayzie, the Bird girls, and lots and lots of fun Jungle Creatures and Who's!

This morning Rick and I couldn't get the song out of our head (and I am fairly confident that we both could hear Ben's voice singing), "Alone in the universe... so alone in the universe... Mayzie come find me I've got to save Who..." *or however it goes*

I was moved close to tears last night as their beauitful voices rang out loud and strong and full of emotion. We really should have three performances -- I think it would be worth it! But, The duets between Horton and Gertrude and Horton and JoJo were my favorite I think. I look forward to hearing snippets at Academy night and since I happen to know the Director, I might put in a special request to hear at least the duet part of "Notice Me Horton".

;)

If you didn't make it, its a shame.

It was ... wonderful! You did a superb job of capturing the evening. We went Friday, and Dave and Kim Saturday. We all had so much fun experiencing the Seussical!

I am sad I wasn't able to go.

Libby and I were VERY sick! Will you please forgive us?
P.S. I sent Colby, Tim, and Molly with a friend, though, and they really enjoyed it.
