 finally. summertime.

I walked through the Wal*Mart doors to breath in the fresh air (of course, I held my breath in the "lobby" area because whats with the vents blowing air? sometimes its really hot, sometimes it just smells bad.. whats the deal?) and I instantly caught a breeze of nostalgia. I don't know why that season changes are always accompanied by this sense of sorrow or sadness... I just seem to be transported to earlier years.

What a nice feeling to be able to park far away from the door and not worry about getting wet feet from the snowy-slushy- parking lot. I loaded the groceries, put the cart away (that was for the North Country This Week's Sound-off discussions last month), and jumped back in the car. The sunroof slid open (I tell Rick all the time that I married him for the sunroof in his car), and Patsy Cline came on the CD player (did I just admit to that on the world wide web?).

The sky was so pink and as I looked at the clock and realized it was already 8:28 and the sky was still so lovely -- I was suddenly transported to being a little girl in a night gown already in bed and wondering why it was so light out when I was in bed. But, there was something fun about laying in bed while the sky was still lit up with the sunset.

So, when I got home Rick helped me unload the groceries and I kept smelling lilacs. And being that I am in a new location for the first time in the summertime, I wandered out to our backyard to look around for the first time. And lo and behold I found A LILAC TREE!!!!! Hurray!

I am pretty sure it was on our side of the property (and truth be told, our neighbors probably don't even know a lilac tree is there!), so I cut a few blossoms off and set them around downstairs (today I am going to do some upstairs - they smell SOOOOO good!)

So, bottom line: I am SOOOOO glad the summertime has decided to finally arrive!
